Audit

Aimly Audit (audit.aimly.online) evaluates whether an email address and sending domain are configured to reach the inbox reliably. Each audit produces a normalized 0–100 deliverability score, section-by-section diagnostics, concrete remediation steps, and a downloadable PDF report.

Free guest audits vs. signed-in workspace

  • Guest access (signed out) — anyone visiting audit.aimly.online can run up to 3 free audits per day using either a DNS-only check or a manual live probe email, complete with PDF report downloads.
  • Signed-in workspace — signing in unlocks Full audits (Inbox Placement, Hard Bounce Rate, Recipient Engagement, and 30-day Sending Activity), one-click audits on mailboxes already connected in Aimly Email, historical score tracking per address, and active job cancellation (Stop audit).

Dashboard overview and account history

At the top of the signed-in Audit dashboard, four summary cards report workspace health:

MetricDescription
Average health scoreMean deliverability score across your most recent audit for each audited mailbox.
Audited accountsTotal distinct email addresses audited in your workspace.
Needs attentionAudited accounts whose latest health score is below 70%.
Audits runningActive audit jobs currently in progress.

Selecting any audited address opens its Account History view (/accounts/:emailAddress), which plots score trends over time, filters past runs by audit mode, and lets you click Rerun audit at any time.

Running a new audit

Click Audit (Run a new audit) to choose between auditing a New mailbox or an Existing mailbox.

1. New mailbox

Enter the email address you want to evaluate and choose one of three verification depths:

Manual live probe (no credentials shared)

  1. Aimly generates a unique destination address and verification code.
  2. Send an email from the mailbox being audited to that destination address with the code in the subject line.
  3. Aimly checks every 5 seconds for the first minute; after that, click Sync again to check for another minute. The probe stays open for up to 30 minutes.
  4. Once received, Aimly inspects the message's live Authentication-Results, DKIM-Signature, and sending IP headers alongside your public DNS records.

DNS-only check (Proceed without it)

Click Proceed without it on the probe prompt to skip sending a live message. Aimly evaluates public DNS records (SPF, DMARC, MX, BIMI) and domain blocklists immediately. DKIM requires a live message, so it is not checked.

Full audit (credentials or OAuth)

Expand the Full audit section and confirm the permission prompt to evaluate live Inbox Placement, Hard Bounce Rate, Recipient Engagement, and Sending Activity in addition to DNS and blocklists:

  • Gmail / Yahoo / Custom SMTP & IMAP — enter your app password (and SMTP/IMAP host details for Custom). One-off passwords supplied for a New mailbox audit are used strictly for that audit run and wiped immediately once the job finishes.
  • Outlook (Sign in with Microsoft) — authenticates directly via Microsoft OAuth (Microsoft Graph) with no SMTP/IMAP fields or app passwords required.

2. Existing mailboxes

Switch to the Existing mailboxes tab to select any mailbox already connected in Aimly Email Mailboxes — whether connected via Google OAuth, Microsoft OAuth, or SMTP/IMAP. Aimly runs a complete Full audit automatically without asking you to re-enter credentials.

Checks not included in your chosen mode are excluded from weight normalization rather than penalized as failures, and show as Not applicable in Score Breakdown. Hard Bounce Rate is also excluded when the mailbox sent nothing in the last 30 days, and Recipient Engagement when it contacted no eligible external recipients in that period. See Reading Audit Results for how every check is scored.
